Guardian of the Groceries, a children’s book about the awe and wonder that abounds in a grocery store if kids use their imagination, is curing childhood boredom around the world today.

Illuminating the importance of boredom in a child’s life as they learn to entertain themselves and leverage their creativity to develop adventures and ideas, Guardian of the Groceries follows protagonist, Henry, as he embarks on one of his biggest adventures yet at the local grocery store.

“Henry has this big idea that he’s going to climb Mount Everest or visit Great White Sharks in the depths of the ocean. When he asks his mom what’s next on the agenda, she calmly replies, ‘We’re going to the grocery store.’ Henry decides to make the most out of his visit and use his imagination to create an unexpected journey that children everywhere are going to love,” said Michael Albanese, author of Guardian of the Groceries.”

To date, parents and children have provided raving reviews of the kid’s book, responding to its encouragement and emphasis on using one’s imagination. Additionally, because of the “broccolisaurus” component of the book, kids have been trying broccoli for the first time. A book of pure fun is helping children develop healthy ‘eat your veggie habits,’ and they don’t even realize it.

As more kids are stuck home due to social distancing than ever before right now, parents are desperate for some kind of adventure that helps their kids find entertainment and balance, in the most unlikely of places.

Guardian of the Groceries is Albanese’s second book for early readers.  It is Laura Kirkland’s first children’s book as an illustrator.  As one Amazon review stated, “the book takes adults into the imagination of children who don’t quite see the world like adults do – theirs is more fun and imaginative.”

Guardian of the Groceries is now available on Amazon.com for $10.99 in paperback or directly on the website for a Limited Edition hardcover edition for preorder for $16.99.
