It’s that time of year again in the Midwest. Fall is upon us, and the leaves will soon be falling from branches in preparation for the cold winter months. GutterSupply.com wants to make home maintenance simpler and more efficient by offering up a wide selection of gutter guards that suit all of homeowners’ needs.
There are many different types of gutter guards from which you can choose, but for the most part, they all serve the same purpose – to allow rainwater to fall into the gutters while keeping leaves, pine needles, and other debris out. You can choose from a variety of different product types.
·Gutter Screens – A gutter screen is often made from mesh that resembles window screens. The holes in the mesh are too fine to allow most debris through, but the small debris that does flow through is fine enough to be carried by flowing rainwater and easily rinsed through the gutter system. However, gutter screens aren’t always ideal if you have pine trees since some of the finer needles can wedge themselves into the holes.
·Gutter Plates – Another option involves installing what are often known as gutter plates or covers. These are solid material with very long slits that are designed to allow water through. The width of the slit is very small, so it can impede the rate at which water can enter the system. This may not be the best choice.
·Gutter Covers – Finally, gutter covers use capillary action to redirect debris away from the gutter system while allowing water to enter via water tension. The water sticks to the surface of the cover, where it is deposited into the system, but debris naturally runs off thanks to gravity.
