Hoffoss Devall Awards Scholarship to a Louisiana Problem Solver

The team of lawyers at Hoffoss Devall proudly participate in many Louisiana communities, so it came as no surprise when they created their own Problem Solving Scholarship to help one member of their community rise to the challenges they wish to conquer.

This scholarship winner must demonstrate a strong passion for problem solving and advocacy; someone who ardently persists to unravel the mystery of a specific problem.

Today, Hoffoss Devall is excited to announce the winner of the Hoffoss Devall Problem Solving Scholarship: McKenlie Lavergne Perry!

More often than not, those that instigate great change are motivated by some sort of personal connection. This was no different for this year’s scholarship winner as she clearly explained the trauma she experienced from an accident in her senior year of high school.

“I was an athlete, and I worked my whole basketball career toward my senior year. I had the surgery at the beginning of the academic year. One of the things the doctors found while in surgery, was that the heads of both my femurs were larger than normal…”

This emotionally traumatic event stimulated McKenlie’s enthusiasm for initiating change, which she explained in her submitted essay. It captured McKenlie’s passion for the medical field in a creative, thoughtful manner that connects the reader with her true mission:

“I want to help hurting people gain their independence and quality of life back, by presenting knowledge through radiographic images, to help them in their next steps to getting treatment.”

The Hoffoss Devall team is humbled to be able to provide financial assistance to such an inspirational college student. McKenlie is very grateful to receive a scholarship that could help make her dreams come true.

“Winning this scholarship means so much to me. I just switched majors to Radiologic Sciences, so it puts me back a few years on graduating. As a newlywed, this will take a huge load off of my husband and I when the semesters start again. It will also help me to focus more on school and less on how I am going to pay for it!”

The Hoffoss Devall team is excited to follow McKenlie’s hard work for what is sure to be a bright future as she continues her education at McNeese State University, solving one problem at a time.
