Hummingbirds Presents Their First Single Release “Stinky Virus”

Hummingbirds is releasing their first single, “Stinky Virus,” which aims to help children acknowledge their feelings and empower them through action and singing as they continue to deal with the consequences of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The song is free on Spotify and YouTube, and available as a paid download on iTunes.

Anne Marie Hynes, a gifted vocalist who composed the song, says she hopes it provides a way for families to sing through this time of uncertainty. Anne Marie started to offer her “Hummingbirds – Let’s Make Music” classes for toddlers last September. However, when COVID-19 brought those classes to an end, she turned to the web to live stream singalong shows, broadcast on the Hummingbirds Facebook page.

Anne Marie will resume her live shows sporadically in September, performing upbeat songs and well-known nursery rhymes designed to engage young children, as well as getting back to work with families in her Athlone venue in the midlands of Ireland.

“I was inspired to write the song by my own two children, who are definitely missing their grandparents during this lockdown,” Anne Marie says, “I wrote the song to promote hope, gratitude, and handwashing awareness, and it’s a fun way to get families singing and releasing their happiness hormones.”

Anne Marie has a Master of Arts Degree in Community Music, and has been active over the years as a folk music performer and wedding singer. She has worked with many singing groups over the years in various forms, and facilitates workshops for adults and children.

Prior to the lockdown, Anne Marie was preparing to teach ukulele in schools, and had also been participating in musical presentations at preschools.
