Mercy College of Health Sciences, a four-year private institution located in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, launched a new online bookstore with Akademos to improve the student and faculty bookstore experience. Mercy College offers both online and campus-based healthcare degree options at the master’s, bachelor’s, associate, and certificate levels to a student population of approximately 1,000 students each year.
“We are thrilled to partner with Mercy College of Health Sciences to help support the next generation of healthcare professionals with an online bookstore solution,” said Raj Kaji, CEO, Akademos. “Just as technology has helped advance the healthcare field, a technology-driven approach to course material purchase and delivery helps improve student success and readiness.”
Mercy College students can access materials through the college-branded bookstore website. With a convenient single sign-on option, students can view their enrolled courses and the associated required course materials, as well as choose from multiple purchasing options. The integration of the new bookstore with existing Mercy College systems creates a seamless extension of the student experience.
“E-commerce is ubiquitous in our lives, but purchasing course materials presents both faculty and students with so many options and decisions that it can be intimidating,” said Jennie Ver Steeg, Director of Library and Media Services at Mercy College of Health Sciences. “Akademos offers excellent online help and support, and faculty appreciate the well-designed course materials adoption portal.”
