International Women’s Day 24 Hour World First Clubhouse Talk Fest
Industry: Business
"IWD CH edition is the first time we have a platform will truly engage a global audience. We're at an unprecedented time in history where women are demanding their voices be heard. Clubhouse is the place where they can do that. This event is the time they can do that. For me, it's about creating a space to allow conversations to be had and voices to be heard."

Every year, on March 8, there are oodles of International Women’s Day events where the audience sits listening to the keynote. You go. Have a nice lunch. And leave. Inspired. Yes. Engaged to act. Not always.
Queensland digital guide Tracy Sheen is taking advantage of the latest social media platform, Clubhouse, to take hold a 24 hour conversation for IWD women led room. “It is time to take the conversation from one way to indepth real conversations where every women can speak, share her experiences, thoughts and ideas,” Tracy said.
“While I love a good lunch, this year I want to hear from more women than the keynote. And Clubhouse is the platform to do this. It gives the stage to anyone who wants it.
“There are so many topics we, as a society, should be talking about and there are many women who are never heard because they don’t have a big profile or using other platforms are not conducive to sharing their thoughts.
“IWD CH edition is important to me because for the first time we have a platform that will truly engage a global audience.
“We’re at an unprecedented time in history where women are demanding their voices be heard. Clubhouse is the place where they can do that. This event is the time they can do that. For me, it’s about creating a space to allow conversations to be had and voices to be heard.”
Photographer Lousie Williams said “It’s time for women to step up and take charge of more conversations, influence decision making and take up more space, in a world that is hungry for passionate and authentic voices to speak truths and choose to challenge the status quo. This event raises up such a huge variety of women and topics that all deserve to be heard and celebrated,” she said.
Clubhouse is a new type of social network based on voice—where people around the world come together to talk, listen and learn from each other in real-time.
With 48 speakers across 24 hours, Tracy has organised speakers across a vast array of topics from
- Technology
- Marketing
- Entrepreneurship
- Fashion
- Finances – investing in women’s economic empowerment
- Senior leadership diversity
- Personal branding
- Health
- Micro finance for emerging communities
- LGBTQI space
- Working mothers
- Setting up remote working and the impact of the pandemic
Marketing and partnership strategist Katrina Koo McCarter is co hosting with Tracy, and they’ll discuss partnerships She said said by nature women are incredibly collaborative. ”We’ll be discussing how women can leverage their incredible networks and negotiate strategic, meaningful partnerships to grow their business in 2021 and beyond.”
Lalitla Lowe, a personal fashion curator, said we live in a complicated world of social media clutter which leads many of us to a constant state of comparison, which leads to a host of issues around “being enough. “One good thing that has come out of this complex landscape is a growing focus on size inclusivity and self acceptance,” she said.
“As women supporting each other on International Women’s Day, let’s have a conversation about body positivity and how we can shift from self judgement to self acceptance in a more practical and more meaningful way.”
Kate Fairbroker, a scope strategist, will be delve into stereotypes. She believes this event remains an important avenue for women in industries like architecture and construction who still face challenges with gender imbalances, prejudices, stereotypes and pay inequity. “Real conversations are the start. Progress and power comes from leveraging these discussion with defined, deliberate, measurable and continued action,” she said.
Founder of ElevateRA, Ramita Anand said for her, International Women’s Day has always been a holiday to reflect on mentorship, and how it can be used to transform the girls of today into the empowered women of tomorrow. “I believe the only way we can create these future leaders is to invest in their empowerment today. A great way to begin is by helping our girls dismantle the beliefs that are currently holding them back from achieving their dreams,” she said.
The room will open on Monday 8th March (IWD) at 8am AEST by me, and will run a minimum of 24 hours,” Tracey said.
“We’ll change over speakers every hour (or there abouts) moving around the world with the clock until we wind up back in QLD on Tuesday 9th when I’ll take the room back over at 8am AEST to wind up.”
As the author of Technopobia, Tracy is a firm believer in the power of technology to change conversations. “Since Clubhouse, I have been a part of so many incredible conversations that were not possible pre-Clubhouse,” she said. “This platform is equal opportunity. Anyone can speak. There are no restrictions and IWD is the perfect time to hear from more women about topics that can’t be covered in an one hour lunch.”
