Discover and Identify Some of the 40+ Bird Species that Make Grace Farms Their Home

RIDGEFIELD, CT (PRUnderground) August 24th, 2017

IntoBirds and Grace Farms Foundation have partnered to offer guided fall migration birdwatching nature walks, free to the public, on Saturdays, Sept. 2 and Sept. 9, from 11 am – 1 pm at Grace Farms in New Canaan, CT.

Reneé Hewitt and Daniel Samperi, co-founders of IntoBirds, a new online magazine, community and resource for all things birds, and Mark Fowler, Nature Initiative Director at Grace Farms Foundation, will teach visitors of all ages about the 40+ bird species that thrive on Grace Farms’ 80-acre preserve.

“Fall migration is a fantastic time to grab your binoculars and see parades of amazing high-flying travelers,” says Reneé Hewitt, president, and co-founder of IntoBirds. “Millions of birds travel thousands of miles across oceans and continents during migration, so you never know what birds you might see on any given day.”

With three ponds and 80 acres of open meadows, woods, and wetlands, Grace Farms is frequented by American Kestrel, Red-tailed Hawk, American Goldfinch, Northern Mockingbird, Pileated Woodpecker, and Red-bellied Woodpecker, among many other bird species.

“I believe that birdwatching is one of the best ways for someone to be inspired by nature and to connect with the huge diversity of life that exists right in our backyard. Here at Grace Farms, we are lucky to have a plethora of bird species that inspire awe and wonder in all that visit and explore,” says Mark Fowler, Grace Farms Foundation’s Nature Initiative Director.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their binoculars and cameras and share their photos with hashtags #intobirds and #gracefarmsct.
