Alejandro Mendez was born in 1968 in Concepción, Chile but moved with his family to Santiago as a boy. His remarkable talent was recognized at an early age, so it was not a surprise when the young artist entered the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile to earn his Bachelor of Arts. Throughout his studies, Alejandro Mendez was able to work under many famous artists, including Jose Balmes, Samy Benmayor, and Roser Bru, always being one of the more prominent students.

After graduating from the University, Alejandro Mendez worked in the field of audiovisual post-production, VFX, 3D animation, and digital TV but over the years returned to painting. Today, he is a well-established visual artist whose major specialization is abstract paintings. The artist has developed his own, very distinctive style that perfectly combines interior landscapes, characters, and dream worlds with various enigmatic and ambiguous elements. His works are wonderful color poems saturated with great signs, hopes, and passion, which makes them so much more than just abstract paintings in the eyes of the viewer. Alejandro Mendez has brought contemporary Chilean art to a whole new level, offering everyone to find their own meaning in his incredible works.
