Fine Art Shippers, a New York-based art logistics company, is happy and proud to be working with the amazing artist Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, whose incredible genius has already left an indelible mark on the world of contemporary art. Tsitoghdzyan’s huge black and white portraits of women look like photoshopped photographs, but they are actually hyper realistic paintings created using nothing but oil-based paints on canvas. It’s not magic, it’s pure art born from the hands and creativity of the talented artist!

Tigran Tsitoghdzyan (b. 1976) is an Armenian-born visual artist who has been living and working in New York since 2009. Tigran’s painterly talent and avid passion for art were discovered early, and by the age of ten, he was already exhibiting his works, first in Armenia and later in Spain, Japan, Russia, and the United States. After studying at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia in Yerevan, Tsitoghdzyan received an MA from Ecole Cantonale d’Art du Valais in Sierre, Switzerland. He also completed artist residencies in South Africa and England.

Today, Tigran Tsitoghdzyan is one of the most prominent contemporary artists working in hyper realistic portraiture. His most famous series of paintings titled “Mirrors” is composed of large black and white portraits of women, each resembling a trendy double exposure photograph. In his work, the artist fuses transparent superposed layers of hands over the subject’s face as if trying to hide her physical identity. The result is truly impressive, especially taking into account that each portrait is a highly realistic oil on canvas painting, not a photoshopped photograph.

Tsitoghdzyan’s talent and ability to mix portraiture with surrealism have made the artist in high demand. His outstanding works are included in many contemporary art museums and private collections, as well as displayed at the leading galleries and art fairs around the world. In 2015, “White Mirror II,” one of Tsitoghdzyan’s paintings from the “Mirrors” series, was sold for $100,000 at Phillips New York Auction, more than doubling its high estimate. It is also worth noting that Tigran Tsitoghdzyan and his incredible works play an important role in the award-winning documentary by Arthur Balder, titled “American Mirror – Intimations of Immortality.” This film, which was created by the artist in collaboration with Susan Sarandon in 2018, features the Oscar-winning actress herself, Donald Kuspit, Florence Faivre, and other celebrities.

At Fine Art Shippers, we are very proud to know Tigran Tsitoghdzyan personally. He is an amazing person and a true genius, whose unique style of painting has already captured the attention of many reputable art critics, seasoned collectors, respected gallerists, and contemporary art museums. Shipping paintings by Tigran Tsitoghdzyan is an honor and a privilege for our team we value so much!
