Jeffrey Cohen “Optical” Expects the Future of Transhumanism

It has been a remarkable century of medical advances but one thing that has eluded scientists is the ability to overcome all human frailties.  Top on the list of human weaknesses is mortality but now Jeffrey Cohen, the futuristic investor, says the trashuman era is coming with evolving technologies that will eliminate all human weaknesses.

It might sound like a utopian prediction but speaking at a tech forum in Tennessee, the convincing private equity investor was adamant in his assertions.

“Today we are witnessing progressive technologies that are being used to make every part of the human body more functional.  With evolution of biotechnologies, more people will be able to afford prosthetics, implants and surgeries and all these will contribute to improvement in innate human capacities,” the Cohen Group president declared as the participants cheered him on.

“Call me deluded or irrational but I can bet you my last dollar that the 17^th century human was not as mentally advanced as we are today. What prevents modern humanity from using exoskeletons and brain implants to enhance capability to become even more capable?” he posed.

“ Brain implants and muscle enhancement technologies will be a common order in future and there is no way you can argue this will not lead to the transhuman era,” the world renowned investor added.

While it might sound like a fantasy, the idea of a trashuman has long been in the minds of biotechnology experts. In fact, the National Intelligence Council (NIC) has already released a forecasting report indicating that by 2030, prosthetic limbs and implants will get more advanced than organic limbs and it will be possible to enhance mental capability substantially.

Cohen’s ideas have spawned reactions across the globe but most futuristic thinkers advocate for advanced technologies to eliminate diseases and improve quality of life. Already, transhumant thinkers are developing technologies that they think will be essential in future.

Some of these include the groundbreaking Cyronics, virtual reality, gene therapy and cybernetics among others. It might sound like stuff right out of the Star Wars but it’s already happening with technologies such as cochlear implants being hailed as precursors of the coming trashuman era.
