UK (PRUnderground) August 18th, 2012

Jenny Strickland, is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Science,  founder of The Strickland Protocol which cures Osgood Schlatter’s Disease, and runs a physiotherapy and sports injury clinic in Kent. During the London Olympics 2012,  Jenny was the lead physiotherapist for the equestrian events at Royal Greenwich Park, working alongside a team of medical staff and vets in what were potentially some of the Games’ most dangerous events.

Jenny says: “The three weeks I spent at Greenwich Park getting ready for and supporting the athletes at the Olympic Games was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The atmosphere was unbelievable and something I will never, ever forget. The Park looked so beautiful and all the competitors and their entourage commented on the fabulous location, views and facilities.”

Regarding her profession, Jenny stated “From a physiotherapy perspective not only was it a chance for I and my team to use our knowledge and skills to help the athletes achieve their best, but also an opportunity for us to educate other health and medical practitioners as to the breadth and depth of our professional skills.”

Jenny explained to size and scope of the role by saying that “As Lead Physiotherapist I was in charge of a team of six experienced colleagues who all worked seamlessly together as part of the larger medical team, which on the cross-country day numbered over 100.

It was a privilege to work with so many highly-skilled and experienced medical staff – all giving their free time to contribute to the safety and well-being of everyone whether it was high-profile athlete or young spectator.

I hope to be able to bring the enthusiasm of being involved at sport at the highest level, to my students. My aim of Olympic legacy is to ‘inspire a generation’ of sports scientists to carry on the great work we saw glimpses of behind the success of all the athletes. If I can do that those 14 hour days in the park will have been more than worth it.” I would also like to thank my University of Greenwich colleagues and management in allowing me to represent them at this most prestigious of sporting occasions.”

Jenny will also be volunteering at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, which takes place between 29 August and 9 September.

Jenny’s protocol, The Strickland Protocol, is the only medically proven cure for Osgood Schlatters and cures children in an average of 3 weeks.  The Strickland Protocol is availble from Amazon, and the official website at https://www.strickland-protocol.com/
