Joe Schwartz Spa World Outlines Differences Between High-Efficiency Toilets and Regular Variants

Industry: Home & Garden

Benefits of switching to high-efficiency toilet not only related to water conservation; products specifically designed to remove waste via water velocity instead of using water volume becoming more prevalent.

Joe Schwartz Spa World, leading Miami-based manufacturer of bath products including Joe Schwartz walkin tubs, recently outlined the differences between high-efficiency toilets and regular variants, citing the fact that toilets specifically designed to remove waste via water velocity instead of using water volume are becoming more prevalent, and that the benefits of switching to a high-efficiency toilet are not only related to water conservation.

“As talk of water shortages becomes more common in the United States, as well as in other countries around the world, water-conserving initiatives and regulations are becoming the norm – but the benefits of switching to a high-efficiency toilet are not only related to water conservation,” explains Schwartz. “By changing a regular toilet to a high-efficiency model, homeowners could reduce their water bill substantially, and that’s what we recently shared with our customer network, along with some other information regarding dual-flush vs. low flow, power flush vs. gravity flow and more.”

According to Joe Schwartz walkin tubs representatives, energy-efficient toilets increase the velocity of the water when they’re flushed, using only about 1.28 gallons-per-flush (or GPF) as compared to older types that can use between 1.6 and seven GPF. Much like ENERGY STAR for appliances, say Joe Schwartz Spa World representatives, WaterSense is a label for products that meet the criteria for water efficiency, with the current federal standard for toilets being 1.6 gallons-per-flush.

“This federal standard was passed in 1992, so if a toilet was installed before this year, it most likely uses 3.5 to seven GPF,” adds Schwartz.

A Water Research Foundation study that Joe Schwartz Spa World looked at noted that toilet flushing frequency has remained the same at five flushes per day, and, according to the EPA, installing water conservation toilets can reduce water usage by 20 to 60-percent, which Joe Schwartz Spa World was quick to point out saves nearly 13,000 gallons per year.

Most importantly, say Joe Schwartz meditubs reps, installing a high-efficiency toilet could save the average family up to $110 a year on their water bill and $2,200 over the lifetime of their toilets.
