K-Pop Star SoRi Teams With EDM Producer Folded Dragons on "I Am Not Alone"

After her controversial departure from K-pop duo CoCoSoRi,  artist SoRi almost gave up on her dreams of making music. Fortunately for her fans, she persevered and continued to search for inspiration. It was one fateful demo submission from EDM producer Folded Dragons that made her try again. The resulting song collaboration, “I Am Not Alone,” was a dream come true for both artists.

When CoCoSoRi disbanded, SoRi appeared on Korea’s TV Idol show MIXNINE where on the show she was called “retirement age” due to her being older than many of the other contestants. The single “Touch,” was SoRi’s response was a response to the comment,  and even from its inception wasn’t authentic to who SoRi really was as an artist.

A demo submission from EDM producer Folded Dragons, who was a fan of SoRi before she went solo, caught her ear and imagination and she saw a chance to be true to her own style and maturity. The artists agreed to collaborate on a completeheartbreak disbandment of SoRi’s past work, a Future Bass-style EDM beat, adding k-pop songwriter Storm to the team. “I Am Not Alone” was funded through Kickstarter, reaching the fundraising goal of $9K in one month’s time.

Despite not speaking the same language, SoRi and Folded Dragons were able to create the track together, proving that music transcends boundaries. When asked about the collaboration, SoRi says, “I almost thought about quitting the K-Pop industry, but Folded Dragons inspired me to push through the hardship and create something new. For this reason, I call it fate.”

“I Am Not Alone” is about courage and maturity. It’s a narrative on growth and community, telling listeners that no one is alone in the fight against a dark world full of regret and sadness. The music video for “I Am Not Alone” will debut on SoRi’s YouTube Channel and was choreographed by Hyojin Choi. The video features contemporary dance and a darker mix of EDM and Pop, instead of the expected hip hop style. SoRi even changed her appearance to reflect the mood of the song, dying her hair a darker color and cutting it short to symbolize her authenticity.
