Kicking off National Black Business Month, The Twin Cities Natural Hair & Beauty Expo Returns

Industry: Entertainment & Games

The largest natural hair expo in the Upper Midwest is returning for its 4th year, Sunday, August 7, 2022, providing an opportunity for over 60 black-owned businesses.

Minneapolis, MN (PRUnderground) July 27th, 2022

After a two-year hiatus, the Twin Cities Natural Hair & Beauty Expo is returning for its fourth annual event. Featured will be a panel of hair & beauty experts, Rep. Rena Moran, speaking on the CROWN Act, and special guest Shoniqua Shandai from the Amazon Prime series, “Harlem” and more.

A recent study revealed that as early as 5 years old, one in two Black children experience hair discrimination, and the impact has been reported to last a lifetime. The Twin Cities Natural Hair & Beauty Expo’s platform is designed to encourage, empower, and educate on the beauty of natural hair, as well as bring awareness to health, wellness, and black economic growth.

Since its inception, the Twin Cities Natural Hair & Beauty Expo has consistently gained national attention, spotlighting the underrepresented communities of color within the Minneapolis/St. Paul region. Striving to influence ethnic beauty, culture and entrepreneurship in their region, their efforts have been highly supported locally, and nationally, quickly becoming the largest natural hair & beauty symposium in the Upper Midwest. Each year, thousands of consumers and guests travel from across the country to attend, increasing revenue for local BIPOC businesses and expo vendors.

The Twin Cities Natural Hair & Beauty Expo  is a space created to support the community of Naturalistas, the decision to transition to natural hair, and the push to make it acceptable overall. With more than sixty vendors, this expo goes beyond encouraging cultural beauty, it also promotes economic empowerment, health and wellness, mental health, and education.

The 2022 expo, hosted by Chris A. Bond of Nashville, TN, will kick off at 11:00 am with Jovonta Patton opening in song with “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. In addition to keynote speakers Rep. Rena Moran & Shoniqua Shandai, the expo will also feature celebrity stylists Demi Dixon and Rosalyn Hall from Tyler Perry Studios, R&B sensation, Algebra Blessett, health and wellness experts Dr. Zakia Robbins-McNeal, Dr. Lavonne Moore, & Coach Val, finance guru Niki Smith, red- carpet interviews conducted by Ms. Ella Chapman, beauty panel experts Ponch Cosmetics, Jai B., Nicole Pacini and ending in a Textured Nation Hair Show comprised of local salon owners/artists Kanika Baker and Charisma Shannon, and guest Stylist Feva Daniels, from St. Louis, MO.

“There is so much positivity in the Twin Cities, despite the negative attention we’ve received in recent years. I believe I speak for myself, Kelley Eubanks and Briana Cress, when I say we are overwhelmed by the amount of support we’ve received from community entrepreneurs and consumers. It is exciting to bring this city together, with the collaboration of celebrities and talent from other states, for an empowering experience. In partnership with our sponsors, Metro State, St. Paul College, LifeSpa, Shakopee Chevrolet, HIRED, Rotary Club of Minneapolis, Atrebla Early Learning Center, Girls Taking Action, Black Business Enterprises, The Brand Experience and Olu’s Beginnings, we are looking forward to delivering an amazing event!”—  Tephanie Delaney – Co-Founder Twin Cities Natural Hair & Beauty Expo
