She is the founder of the largest African American childcare center in Junction City, KS. With more than 25 years’ experience in early childhood education and family support, she is a woman with renowned credentials and a tangible success story.

She is a dynamic, results-driven leader, who has demonstrated success in every role she has ever served. Currently, LaFarris is the CEO of LaFarris Inc., a consultancy company where she fills the role of business strategist by helping a growing number of clients overcome their challenges in finding direction, purpose and success in life and business, from a realistic, practical, and results-oriented standpoint. She is also the Founder of Loving Arms Childcare and Preschool, the largest African American childcare center, located in Junction City, Kansas.

Before LaFarris embarked on her career path, she earned her Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Education and then her Bachelor of Science in Human Services. As a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) for the National Council of Family Relations, LaFarris provides education, social and emotional, and cognitive support for both her students and parents. She holds many certifications in her field and has performed as an Advisor, Trainer and National Representative for the Child Development Association. LaFarris is a Certified Home Visitor and Instructor for the State of Kansas and the State of Nebraska. LaFarris is an Instructor for Parenting with Love and Logic through the Love and Logic Institute. She is a facilitator for Kauffman FastTrac.
In addition to her successful career, LaFarris is an active member of her community and provides Notary of the Public Services. She is a facilitator for Military Life Classes and of the Aha! Process. She is an alumnus of Goldman Sachs’s 10,000 Small Businesses Program and has been a highlighted host of its affiliated Small Business Fridays Podcast.

LaFarris was awarded as one of Enterprising Magazine’s Woman of the Year for 2020 and was recognized at the 35th Annual Minority and Woman Owned Business Awards Luncheon by the Kansas Department of Commerce Office of Minority and Women Business Development and her childcare firm won the Minority-Owned Business of the Year in 2019.

Looking back, LaFarris attributes her success to her faith in God, perseverance, her education, and training, and most importantly her personal life experiences. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband Kevin Risby who she has been married to for 24 years and she is the proud mother to Tyronica Burks-Watkins and Tyrone Burks Jr. LaFarris is a dignified grandmother of three, Alani, 12, Tavon, 15, and Isaiah, 3.
