Life Link III's Pledge of Support Enables Haiti Air Ambulance to Expand Efforts to Strengthen Access to Healthcare and Health Security Across the Island of Haiti

Melville, NY (PRUnderground) February 21st, 2022

Haiti Air Ambulance/Ayiti Air Anbilans, the first and only charitable helicopter ambulance service in Haiti, is pleased to announce an in-kind contribution of an ambulance from partner, Life Link III, to benefit Haiti Air Ambulance’s Medical and Emergency Transport Services Program. The contribution will strengthen access to healthcare in Haiti with an in-kind donation of an ambulance. By making this donation, Life Link III helps ensure Haiti Air Ambulance is prepared to meet the healthcare needs of Haitians, 365 days a year and supports Haiti Air Ambulance’s ability to respond effectively to disasters and enhance long-term health security for the people of Haiti.

Haiti Air Ambulance’s Medical and Emergency Services program renders medical and emergency transport services throughout the nation of Haiti, safely moving patients to partner hospitals and facilities best equipped to receive and treat individual patient needs. Every day, Haiti Air Ambulance flies emergency medical missions that save lives. In the beautiful but often challenging country of Haiti, a trip to the hospital – even for something routine – can take two days by road. Haiti Air Ambulance cuts that two-day trip to 20 minutes, making the difference between life and death. In 2021, Haiti Air Ambulance transported 473 patients in daylight only operations. In what has become a chronic disaster environment with an increasingly pressing need for access to healthcare, donations from partners such as Life Link III are more critical than ever as they fuel Haiti Air Ambulance’s readiness and strengthen our ability to respond, whenever called.

“Support from partners like Life Link III is critical each and every day in Haiti, as well as during times of disaster”, says David Ellis, Haiti Air Ambulance Executive Director. “One of the largest inequities in Haiti is in access to healthcare.  Haiti Air Ambulance serves as a mechanism to level the playing field in access to healthcare, whether the obstacle be geographic or economic.  We leverage our partnerships to allow patients to receive care regardless of their location or ability to pay. With our extremely low overhead, a donation to Haiti Air Ambulance equates to our partners’ direct impact– for saving a life in the western hemisphere’s poorest nation. This generous donation from Life Link III will allow our team to broaden our impact—through transporting patients in the vicinity of our operations base in Port au Prince and to scale up efforts to transport patients and supplies during a time of disaster or crisis.”
