Michigan Veteran Receives Car Donation from Driving Successful Lives

Driving Successful Lives, A Michigan 501 (c) 3 charitable organization delivered a life-changing donation to a veteran.  Having gone without a vehicle since last year, DL Smith was grateful and in shock as he accepted the donated low mileage vehicle from the charity and a donor from out of state.

A widower and a veteran, Mr. Smith held back tears as he looked at the vehicle and stepped inside to take a peek at his new ride. Executive Directors from the charity organized the car to be tuned up and delivered to the residence of Mr. Smith, who regularly volunteers his time and works to pay tuition for his only grandson’s education.

A Driving Successful Lives staff member said “the vehicle donation program helps those in need obtain transportation so that they can work, take care of the household needs, and be productive.” Prior to obtaining the vehicle, Mr. Smith would ride his bike to and from activities, grocery shopping, work and social events. The initiative of the car donation program is to assist those in need and to also take care of our veterans, victims of domestic violence, those with barriers to employment and individuals who are starting over in life due to unforeseen life circumstances.
