Norwalk, CT (PRUnderground) September 8th, 2020

Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS) has partnered with Akademos to provide the seminary’s 4,000 students across their undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, access to a convenient online bookstore. The residential seminary located in the heart of America, committed to preparing the next generation of ministry leaders for the church will enhance the bookstore with the Akademos online course materials platform technology. This move will optimize the dedicated on-campus store and provide convenient shipping options to students no matter their location, starting in the fall of 2020.

With more and more students shopping for textbooks online, the partnership between Midwestern Seminary and Akademos creates a powerful tool for driving engagement among faculty, staff, and students. The Akademos technology helps alleviate the tedious management of an accessible and affordable course materials program, so the MBTS bookstore staff is free to focus on the invaluable responsibilities of the day-to-day operation of its campus store. The physical store will continue to serve as an integral part of campus life, supporting the school community with merchandise, events, and services that give their students an exceptional educational experience.

“Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College are privileged to serve uncommon students with an uncommon calling,” said Jordan Wade, Director of Auxiliary Services, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. “The strategic decision to partner with Akademos for course materials, marries our desire to provide students the best possible educational experience – whether residential or online – with our determination to faithfully equip them to answer that call.”

The Akademos technology combines adoptions, low-cost course material fulfillment, reporting, and analytics into one accessible, customized experience. The integrated course materials platform will support MBTS students with online access to a wide selection of low-cost material options including new, used, rental, digital, course packs, and a 100+ million title Marketplace. Additional cost savings and convenience features include free shipping on all retail orders of new and used books over $49. To accommodate the needs of students both on campus and online and support additional safety measures, materials can be shipped directly to the students home or to campus for pick up at the MBTS campus store.

“We’re looking forward to working with Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to integrate our software into the bookstore operation to help serve and support the institution,” said Raj Kaji, CEO, Akademos. “Our technology will additionally provide the bookstore with powerful tools for faculty and staff so that they can focus on preparing their students for ministry.”
