Canberra, Australia (PRUnderground) August 17th, 2022

Professional problem solver, Amy Kennedy is a finalist for two categories for the 2022 AusMumpreneur Awards for her continued commitment to help improve and add value to other peoples’ lives.

Her business The Organising Bee thrives on order and gets a buzz from supporting others and specialises in helping people get their homes and lives organised. Amy has supported hundreds and hundreds of Canberra families reclaiming their space and time so they can focus on the things that they love.

The AusMumpreneur finals will be held in September 2022 and Amy will be in for the chance of winning the Business Excellence NSW/ACT and the People’s Choice Making a Difference (Local Community) categories.

Presented by AusMumpreneur and The Women’s Business School, the annual awards recognise the best and brightest mums in business and acknowledge their success in product development, innovation and customer service, while making motherhood look easy.

Amy waved goodbye to the corporate world in 2015 after having the desire to add value to the lives of others and to create the life she dreamed of. The Organising Bee was born as a result and since then it has experienced tremendous growth.

“I selfishly wanted to be mentally challenged and have the time to enjoy my life passions – my family and serving my community,” Amy explains why she started The Organising Bee.

After an experience working for one of Australia’s largest manufacturing companies had left her disheartened by the sheer amount of waste and excess consumption linked with fast fashion. “I felt personal shame about my contribution and no longer wanted to be a part of that world. I wanted to be part of the solution,” Amy said.

Being a mumpreneur is all about choice. “I love that being a mumpreneur provides choice.  It is often challenging and takes a lot of dedication and focus, but I love that I have full control and ownership of my day – both in my business and family life,” she said.

“I love that I can change, grow, or pivot my business when needed to ensure that I am always supporting my family, my community and my clients in the best way I can.  I am so grateful to the judges for selecting me.”

There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Amy explains, “Having ownership and ability to control your own time and success is empowering. I get to experience the highs and lows of running my business, but still able to focus on my family whenever they need me”

It can be challenging to be a successful businesswoman raising a family. Amy has this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise. “The fear of doing something is always greater than the actual doing of it. Don’t be your own worst enemy in sabotaging your dreams and plans due to fear of failure. Call upon help from business coaches and mentors in the first couple of years of business, especially at times of crucial decisions. Finally, enjoy the ride.”
