Yolanda Janshen recently joined the Intermountain Health Holy Rosary Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN), adding midwifery to women’s health services in Eastern Montana.
Janshen has served patients as part of the women’s health team since 2021 as a nurse practitioner and looks forward to providing a full range of care as a midwife.
“I am very excited to bring this service to Miles City and the women in our community,” said Janshen. “In addition to supporting our patients during pregnancy and childbirth, as a midwife, I provide care from adolescence to menopause to end of life. It’s comprehensive women’s health care.”
Janshen began her career in women’s health care after receiving her associate’s degree in nursing from Miles Community College and working in labor and delivery at Holy Rosary in 2015. She furthered her education by receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016 and then earning her degree as a Nurse Practitioner. After working in primary care and women’s health, she pursued her degree as a CNM, graduating in the fall of 2024.
Reflecting on her career path, Janshen is grateful for the support of her team at Holy Rosary. “I knew I was in the right field caring for women, but I missed being part of the childbirth process,” she said. “Our team encouraged me to consider going back to school to become a midwife, and I am excited to be part of this team in the new and expanded role.”
Janshen shared that the midwifery services are part of a collaborative practice model, integrating evidence-based care with the hospital’s medical team. “Midwives in the hospital setting balance person-centered and evidence-based care within the framework and resources of a hospital. We all work together, including our obstetricians and maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialists,” she said. “Everyone works together to ensure the quality of care and safety of our patients.”
In addition to serving patients at the Holy Rosary Women’s Health Clinic, Janshen offers well-woman exams and women’s health outreach services to Baker and Forsyth, ensuring comprehensive care for women in the region.
“We are thrilled to have Yolanda join the team as a midwife to continue to grow the quality of services we offer women in Miles City and our surrounding communities,” said Jay Littlefield, DO, OB-GYN and chief medical officer at Holy Rosary. “She has a passion for caring for women, and her patients know they are receiving patient-centered, compassionate care by an experienced, well trained and certified nurse midwife.”
