Seasoned Workforce Coach Torsten Schimanski Will Lead Program to Educate New Jersey's Manufacturing Workforce

Cedar Knolls, NJ (PRUnderground) July 6th, 2017

The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP) announced today that it will offer small group training to help educate New Jersey’s manufacturing workforce.

“Manufacturers are running on tight budgets and not all can afford to have us in their facility for a duration of time.  Our ‘Open Enrollment’ programs allow us to train small groups in a classroom style setting in Food Safety and Food Quality Compliance, ISO and Lean to name a few, so that they can go back into the facility and implement what they’ve learned,” says John W. Kennedy, Ph.D, CEO of NJMEP.

To help align and understand the direction and expectation of these programs, NJMEP has hired Torsten Schimanski.  Mr. Schimanksi will be responsible for NJMEP’s development, implementation, sales, and management of its in-house, Open Enrollment training programs. With 16 years of experience in training & coaching, he will add new training to the existing curriculum and focus on stackable education for the manufacturing workforce.

Torsten understands the manufacturing industry as well as the educational sector; and has expert knowledge in apprenticeship and internship program development. He received NJTEEA’s (New Jersey Technology & Engineering Educators Association ) 2017 Impact Award for supporters of TED Education in New Jersey.   Torsten  joined NJMEP on July 5, 2017.

This successful MEP program was initiated in 1988 to assist Small & Mid-Sized Manufacturers to improve, grow, and employ Americans in the Manufacturing/STEM industry. “This is a program that has a Return on Investment of 9:1 as shown in a 2017 W.E. Upjohn Institute Report (The National-Level Economic Impact of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership {MEP}), and I believe you’d be hard-pressed to find another Government Program that provides such value,” said Kennedy.
