New York City’s The Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) launches The Peoples News Show hosted by PIT Founder and Saturday Night Live writing alum, Ali Reza Farahnakian.

Fans of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update can agree there’s nothing better than a well-crafted, hilarious monologue joke. Luckily for any aspiring late-night television writer or casual jokester, The Peoples News Show is looking for joke submissions to be featured in an upcoming video.

In this 100% submission-based show, people from all over the world are encouraged to email 1-3 of their best monologue jokes to for a chance to have them read by Ali Reza Farahnakian in a future video. All emails must include the writer’s name, social media handle, and any supplemental pictures for the jokes. All submissions will be read by Ali Reza Farahnakian, along with the show’s two co-head writers Bonnie Q and Jared Waltzer. Submissions are open on a rolling basis. To qualify for the next video, please email submissions by January 10th, 2021 at 12pm (EST).

The Peoples News Show looks to include as many unique and varied comedic voices as possible to expand and ultimately incorporate submissions written by viewers from around the world. No matter a person’s previous writing experience, all are invited to submit.

For people looking to learn more about writing monologue jokes, Ali Reza Farahnakian has over 25 years of teaching experience and is an alum of The ImprovOlympic, The Second City Chicago, and Saturday Night Live.
