Highland, NY (PRUnderground) May 24th, 2022
On a bright and sunny May 5th, at Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland, New York Nicky's Gardens of Hope held its first Golf Tournament. The event was designed to raise awareness and funds which will go towards the creation of housing for intellectually disabled adults.
“The people at Apple Greens were really accommodating and the weather was great!” said Adriana Piltz, Founder of Nicky’s Gardens of Hope. “We had nine contests and a lot of prizes to give away so it was a really fun outing for everyone involved”, she said. “I have to thank our sponsors for helping us to raise over $16,000 and making it a great success. Everyone who came says they are looking forward to coming back for it next year!”
“It was the first golf fundraiser for us, but it is also the start of an annual tradition! You never know what kind of weather you’re going to get when you have to plan months in advance. Either way, it was absolutely the perfect day. Apple Greens is not just a fun golf course, it is an apple orchard, and the blossoms on all of the apple trees were just beginning to bloom as we teed off!” said COO, Chris Niccolls.
Nicky’s Gardens of Hope is a new not-for-profit dedicated to building sustainable, net-zero, inclusive communities for autistic & intellectually disabled (ID) adults in NY State’s historic Hudson Valley. Nicky’s Gardens of Hope was founded in 2018 by Adriana Piltz. Motivated to create permanent housing for those like her son Nicky, a severely disabled autistic adult who cannot care for himself, she left wall street to develop housing for autistic and ID adults. When she began her search for a permanent home to care for Nicky, she found waiting lists that often stretched to over a decade. Adriana wanted something better for all of the Nickys in the world, even if she had to build it herself. To raise funding for their first residency, Nicky’s gardens held its first golf fundraiser
The Toll Bridge Company was the platinum sponsor and Ellenville Regional Hospital, Rondout Savings Bank, and Conduit Capital all contributed with silver sponsorships. Adriana added, “We not only had some wonderful sponsors, but local small businesses pitched in to help us with prizes, including The Culinary Institute of America, Woodstock Golf Club, Apple Green Golf Course, Whitecliff Vineyard & Winery, City Winery, Hudson Valley Brewery, The Williamsburg Hotel, and The Breathing Rooms.”
It’s a bit of an early start, but it’s never too soon to plan for next year! Come and join the fun next year on Friday, May 5th, 2023. Apple Greens in Highland, New York (just two miles from Thruway Exit 18 to New Paltz).
