One Freelance Limited Runs a Petition to Create a National Essay Day

One Freelance Limited, a writing assistance company based in London, has started a petition on Change.org to establish a National Essay Day.

National Essay Day aims to finally change the unfavorable perception of academic writing and encourages to celebrate essay writing at least one day a year!

The truth is essay writing has been reduced to just another academic activity. First-year students, on average, write 92 pages during the academic year, while seniors write 146 pages.

That’s a lot of pressure. And that is why most students do not enjoy essay writing.

National Essay Day aims to have a least one day a year, when students will start loving essay writing.

February, 28 is the perfect match. It’s the birthdate of Michel de Montaigne, the author of the first writings named “essays”. Michel de Montaigne was never afraid to write what he really thought, no matter how unorthodox his ideas were.

National Essay Day inspires students to excel in essay writing and never be afraid to try and stay true to the very word “essay”, which means “to try” or “to attempt”.

With the help of this awareness campaign, One Freelance Limited hopes to resurrect the nature of essay writing and to inspire students to start writing what they really think, not what they are expected to think.
