PLAY Preschool Keeps Kids Engaged at Home During COVID-19 Closures

In times of the COVID-19 pandemic that has swept across the globe, and now the United States, PLAY Preschool is keeping their children engaged via remote technology. UNESCO reports that over 91% of the world’s student population, no matter what grade level or age, has been impacted by Coronavirus, which makes it essential that schools and classrooms make the online/remote transition as soon as possible.

Classes and schools that are adapting quickly are already fine-tuning their online learning processes and utilizing a multitude of online tools to successfully educate students.

PLAY Preschool, for instance, conducts online morning assemblies for its students with over 60 student participants each day.

Teachers at PLAY Preschool have been working with students via the Zoom video conference application that allows an entire classroom to congregate in one online platform, as well as YouTube videos in order to provide visual lessons that allow students to continue their home learning during a worldwide pandemic as an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

PLAY Preschool also sets out each school day to not only educate, but to entertain their students as well, with activities like online puppet shows. Teachers also integrate their story time activities with musical interludes to break any monotony that could potentially occur through online learning.

“During this time of crisis and social distancing we have set up a YouTube channel where our dedicated teachers have uploaded story time puppet shows, songs, and exercise videos for the children to watch,” says PLAY Preschool Program Director, Karna Blugrind

As many teachers and students lament about having to make the online transition amidst an unprecedented amount of school closures across the globe, PLAY Preschool is doing its part to give value to their students as well as relief to parents doing the heavy lifting at home.
