Boulder, CO (PRUnderground) August 8th, 2016

Today, Sender Films and Big UP Productions revealed the five climbing film titles to be featured at this year’s REEL ROCK 11 film tour.  The grass roots film festival, which offers enthusiasts in the climbing world an opportunity to share their astounding stories of perseverance, hardship and accomplishment, has become the “must-attend” social networking event of the climbing community.  As the tour’s year-after-year increasing audience numbers reflect, rock climbing is one of the fastest growing sports among millennials and Gen Z.

This year’s REEL ROCK Film Tour is presented by The North Face and includes documentaries that highlight the changing face of climbing and showcases a colorful array of different personalities drawn to the sport.

Here are the five titles announced for REEL ROCK 11:

Young Guns: Meet two of the best young climbers in the world, 15-year-old Ashima Shiraishi and 16-year-old Kai Lightner. These two “young guns“ are already taking climbing to the next level.  A trip to Norway puts their skills to the test, and Ashima attempts to make history in Japan by climbing the hardest moves ever by a woman.

Boys in the Bugs: Will Stanhope and Matt Segal are elite-level rock climbers and world-class goofballs. Laugh along as they go for broke on an epic four-year battle to climb a forbidding 5.14 finger crack high in the Canadian alpine wilderness of the Bugaboos.

Brette: Follow rising talent Brette Harrington on a global journey from her hometown granite in Squamish, British Columbia, to the big wall proving ground of Yosemite’s El Capitan and onto a landmark free solo in Patagonia.

Rad Dad: Lone Wolf Mike Libecki travels to the most remote corners of the globe to find unclimbed walls and establish first ascents. When Mike becomes a father, he has a new challenge: to reconcile his life of adventure with the demands of parenthood, but he may also gain a new partner for his expeditions.

Dodo’s Delight: Pack your penny whistle and batten down the hatches for a madcap sailing adventure in the Arctic Circle aboard the good ship Dodo’s Delight.
