“After dealing with several roofing companies myself and sub-poor results, I decided to do a little research. People laugh at me when I tell them this story but one summer I literally would capture addresses when I see a roof going up. I made a list of about 50 addresses that summer. That same fall, I went back to those addresses, knocked on the door, and probably spoke to at least 35 homeowners. After complimenting them on the new roof, all I said was, “My name is Steve, and I am doing a little market research and just wanted to know how your roofing experience was?”.” Steve recollects.

After speaking to several people, he figured out what people expect from roofing contractors, and he applied it in his business.
