While the world is currently fighting COVID-19, water-born disease is still taking the lives of more children than any other. Over the last decade, millions of children have died due to water-born disease and nearly 2,000 children under the age of five continue to die everyday.  Hydrating Humanity is confronting this by providing clean water and hygiene education for school children in East Africa.

Former Professional Soccer (MLS) player Wells Thompson is joining this fight and will be running for 24 hours with the goal of raising $50,000 for clean water in Africa. His goal is to run 100 miles in 24 hours.

People are invited to participate by sponsoring Wells as he runs or by running or walking any distance in their own neighborhood.

This event will begin at 4 pm on Friday, May 15th through 4 pm on Saturday, May 16th.

Hydrating Humanity founder Matt Peterson is ecstatic to partner with a world class athlete like Wells Thompson and the community for such a great cause. Peterson expressed that “Even in the midst of a pandemic, people want to make a difference.

This is a great way to connect through a common goal, even while social distancing continues. Individuals or families can run or walk together, or support Wells’ run. We are appreciative of Wells’ dedication to lead this initiative and hope the greater community will join him!”

Visit run4cleanwater.com for full details on how to sign up to donate or participate.

Together, runners, walkers and donors can give 5,000 children in Africa the chance they have never had before – to drink clean water and live healthy lives.
