Sagacious IP hosts a conference on “Aligning Intellectual Property with Business Strategy”

Sagacious IP (Gurugram), MERH-IP (Germany) & Centre For Future (Gurugram), in collaboration with YourStory organized a conference for Startups, Entrepreneurs and MSMEs on “Aligning Intellectual Property with Business Strategy: Avoid Common Pitfalls & Adopt Global Best Practices”.

The conference offered insights on how to make a world-class IP strategy through sessions focused on:

• ‘Understanding the elementary & essential components of a World-class IP strategy’,
• ‘Three essential types of IP strategies every business should have’,
• ‘Decoding European IP system for Indian Business’ and
• ‘How patents can be used as a revenue generating tool’

Indian IP Attorney, Vivek Singh, German IP Attorney, Timo Schwamb (Merh IP) and a full-time innovator, Wyyuru Amarnath graced the occasion and shared their experiences on how IP can boost innovation, promote business & protect it from being disrupted overnight.

Among many discussions, the most important was how Global unicorns like Uber, Xiaomi & Amazon etc have used IP for their growth while on the other hand Indian start-ups like Micromax, Flipkart & Ola are not focusing on building their IP portfolio which could be detrimental for them in the era of high competition and disruption.

Ms Ritu Chauhan of FrigoGlass who was one of the attendees said “I congratulate the organizers for putting together this event. It was really helpful for us to understand the strategic importance of IP and we hope to put this to use in our business”. Many other participants have also given positive feedback about the event and found the sessions very useful for formulating their IP strategies.
