The seventh educational module of STEM is FEM took place in October. It was dedicated to the industry of construction and architecture and was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 30 schoolgirls from all over Ukraine took part in the two-day venue. The initiator of the project, GenIT founder and Reface investor Sergey Tokarev tells about this event.

‘During the module, the participants had the opportunity to talk to successful Ukrainian women and women who have achieved impressive success in the field of construction and architecture. Another important part of each module is a competition with a creative task,’ says Tokarev.

Previously, the girls have already come up with concepts for robots and designed benches with the implemented function of social distancing. During this module, the organizers offered the participants to create a project of a bicycle station with additional functionality.

“We’ve got more than 30 projects of bicycle stations designed by schoolgirls in a specialized 3D modeling software. The first place for her project was given to a girl from Boryspil. She offered to install a solar-powered eco-bike station in a local park. There were many other interesting projects that, despite the young age of the authors, could nevertheless benefit their hometowns,’ says Sergey Tokarev.

STEM is FEM project has been functioning for over a year. During this time, its participants managed to get acquainted with the fields of IT, robotics, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, and energetics. The main goal of the initiative is to demonstrate that today there are no “non-traditional careers” for women in the technological field and to keep girls interested in technical professions.
