Microtransit company to provide first/last mile connection for employees utilizing public transportation in Dublin, OH

Columbus, OH (PRUnderground) April 23rd, 2019

Microtransit company, SHARE, has announced a six month workforce circulator with the City of Dublin. Starting Spring 2019, SHARE will provide first and last mile connection from three Central Ohio Transit Agency (COTA) bus stops to various workplaces in the Dublin area. The Dublin Circulator program will encourage the use of public transportation, reduce traffic and pollution, and will give employees a cost-efficient way to get to and from work.

The circulator will pick up and drop off at COTA bus stops:

  • 21 Hilliard Rome, Stop J at Tuttle Mall;
  • 73 Dublin, Stop I at Metro Place/Franz Road; and
  • 33 Henderson, Stop L at 565 Metro Place and Stop K/I Sawmill/Dublin Granville Road

Employees will be transported to the front door of businesses who are a part of the partnership. The Dublin Workforce Circulator is designed to allow workers that live outside of the city to ride COTA and get a first or last mile ride to the employer in Dublin.

SHARE and the City of Dublin will work with businesses in the area who will benefit from the service through increased recruiting and retention. Employees can sign up through their employer or directly at ridewithshare.com/DublinWorkforce.

This service is the second transportation program between the City of Dublin and SHARE. Currently, Dublin residents who are seniors or disabled have access to an ADA-accessible Circulator program that provides transportation to popular destinations within the Dublin community.

“We’re excited to expand our partnership with the City of Dublin and demonstrate how microtransit can benefit the workforce in Dublin. We are thrilled to be extending the COTA lines with last mile service,” said Ryan McManus, co-founder and CEO of SHARE. “We believe the future is multimodal and this demonstrates how public and private operators can work together to prioritize action and results.”

The City of Dublin has a growing number of businesses that will benefit from a last mile connection such as Stanley Steemer International, T-CETRA, and AC Hotel by Marriott. The Dublin Workforce Circulator will allow those outside of the city to have convenient and direct access to more than 70,000 jobs in Dublin.

“The City of Dublin agreed that there was a need for increased access for our current and future workforce,” said Joanne Shelly, Urban Planner for the City of Dublin. “We believe that offering a first and last mile connection will encourage those in our community to utilize public transportation and will allow our businesses to reach into new pockets of the region to recruit the best talent.”
