New short film provides inside look at local personality, Joe Ruback

New Jersey (PRUnderground) October 17th, 2016

New Jersey-based, Sharkbite Productions has released their latest film on New York Giants’ unofficial mascot and social media personality, Joe Ruback aka “License Plate Guy ”. Directed by award-winning filmmaker, Anthony Scalia, the film short gives viewers an inside look at the man behind the license plates from the comfort of his very extensive man cave.

The film unveils the story behind License Plate Guy, or LPG’s, first time ever wearing a license plate to an NFL game, what motivates him to continue, and his rise to fan-stardom. To capture his recognition among Giants fans, the film goes to MetLife stadium before a New York Giants football game where Ruback is seen signing autographs, taking pictures with fans and chatting with his followers.

“In order to really capture his persona, we wanted to make the documentary as if Joe was a player on the Giants,” says filmmaker of Sharkbite Productions, Anthony Scalia. “I hope that his passion, dedication, and unique personality come across as clear in this piece as they do in real life.”

While most fans have seen Ruback’s many jerseys and license plates on TV, social media or at games, the film takes a look into the closet of LPG, containing over 200 jerseys. His memorabilia collection is so large that he had to expand into his garage.

“We actually had to add an extra day just to film all the memorabilia in his home.” says Scalia.

The film is part of Sharkbite Productions’ “Backyard Treasure” short documentary series, highlighting unique places and people in the tristate area. Other documentaries in the series include, “Clinton Place” taking viewers to a well-known Hackensack, NJ neighborhood boasting the best Halloween décor, “Cardy’s Sugar Bowl” a behind-the-scenes look at the historic candy store in Lodi, NJ, and “Lafayette Theater” documenting the struggles of one of the last single-screen movie palaces in the tristate area.
