"Where There’s Smoke, There’s Ire: Smoke, Cooking Odors and Other Nuisances" - one of the sessions at NJICLE "Mastering Community Association Law Issues"

Bridgewater, NJ (PRUnderground) January 27th, 2020

Presented in cooperation between NJSBA Real Property Trust and Estate Law Section and the New Jersey Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI-NJ), this full day session dedicated to Mastering Community Association Law Issues kicks off with a presentation by Susan J. Radom, Esq., partner at Radom & Wetter Attorneys at Law. Radom will present, “Where There’s Smoke, There’s Ire,” referencing statutory rulings in New Jersey and other states.

This NJICLE full day session has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 4.5 hours of total CLE credit, with 1.0 qualifying as hours of credit for ethics/professionalism.

Radom will address questions including:

  • What is an association to do when presented with complaints from residents about their neighbors?
  • What tools does an association have to respond to the complaints or to craft some mitigation plan?
  • When must an association take remedial action?

Presented with complaints between neighbors or where presented with offensive conduct by a resident, community association boards must offer a forum and attempt dispute resolution as the relevant statutes require. However, even where participation is obtained, the outcome is not binding.

Radom is uniquely qualified to present her insights, leveraging 25 years in her practice addressing community association law in New Jersey. Radom received her law degree and undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, and is a member of both the New Jersey and American Bar Associations. She is also a member of the New Jersey and National Chapters of the Community Association Institute (CAI) where she served on the Board of Trustees.

Radom also has been a member of CAI-NJ’s editorial committee, legislative committee and education committee. She has published articles in the organization’s monthly publication, Community Trends and has spoken often on legal issues and community association practice for New Jersey realtors, the New Jersey Chapter of CAI and the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
