There’s a magazine for almost every topic under the sun, catering to different tastes and interests, but for those who have chosen to be childfree, there’s nothing to cater for them... until now.

There’s a magazine for almost every topic under the sun, catering to different tastes and interests but for those who have chosen to be childfree, there’s nothing to cater for them.

Digital marketer and childfree advocate, Tanya Williams decided to change this with the launch of CHILDFREE MAGAZINE to fill the space, giving the one in four households who are childfree content specifically for them.

Tanya and her husband are childfree by choice and when she went looking for magazines that reprsentated her lifestyle, there was nothing. “I wanted to see articles and products that represented me,” she said.

“Childfree by choice families are a growing segment of the market. By 2036, couples without children is projected to increase by over 50%; that’s a significant percentage of the market.

“This is an opportunity for businesses who supply products and services to those without kids to take advantage of people who are looking for businesses that see them,”

Tanya, the author of Childfree Happily Ever After, is a vocal voice for childfree families. She wrote the book as a field guide and anthropological study into why women feel pressured to have kids after following a thread on the topic on social media.

“Woman choosing not to have children are no longer the minority. Up to 24% of Australian women are choosing to be child free. It is not a trend but a life choice. Women who are child free by choice are reshaping the world – child free travel, restaurants, new reproductive technologies, political reforms, even impacting industries like the pet industry. CHILDFREE MAGAZINE features in depth articles about people who have chosen not to have children, travel, products and recipes; all focusing on people who are childfree.

“The magazine is not about being negative about those who have children; there are many magazines, products and services for this market. It is about providing space to cater to a sector of the community that is often met with ignorance and judgement,” Tanya said.

“After a successful crowdfunding campaign, I am launching the magazine. The support from our funders and contributors reflects a desire to be heard and understood.”
