Taylor Re Lynn Applauds Diversity in ‘Joker’ at Venice Film Festival Premiere

Taylor Re Lynn is among a select group of women that have recorded a remarkable success in seemingly male-dominated movie industry. Over the years, she has produced several feature films, including ‘Love Gilda’ which has two 2019 Emmy nominations and ‘The Shepherd’ which has garnered several awards and will be an official selection at the Cyprus International Film Festival November 25th – 30th, 2019.

La Biennale di Venezia has organized the 76th Venice International Film Festival to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. The Venice Film Festival has continued to widen its platform to more women and diverse perspectives with the 2019 edition of the festival featuring a seminar on Gender Equality and Inclusivity and Film Industry. The seminar highlighted key facts such as the huge gap in terms of the budgets that women directors get to work versus their male counterparts.  Almost 25% of eligible films submitted to Eurimages by male directors had budgets greater than $5.5 million, as compared to only 9% of those submitted by women representing mainly films with budgets under $3 million.
Another key fact is just two out of the 21 competition titles in Venice this year are directed by women, which the same as last year.  However, progress is being made as Eurimages showed that since implementing a gender parity strategy, the number of eligible projects submitted by women increased from 17 percent (2012) to 28 percent in 2018.

Taylor Re was in attendance to support the gender equality seminar initiatives and the Joker film, starring Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Todd Phillips. “It was a pleasure to see in the Joker film not only the stunning performances of the cast and Joaquin Phoenix, but the inclusion of more people of color including actress Zazie Beetz, Jolie Chan, and Brian Tyree Henry among others. The industry is continuing to improve in this area. Some progress has been made, but more is still needed not only in the US, but globally as well.”
After the film premiere, Taylor was seen behind the scenes with a select few industry insiders congratulating lead actress Zazie Beetz where the two snapped a quick photo to capture the special moment.

While attending the festival, the talented actress showed her ability to transition seamlessly from industry business by day to a dazzling beauty at night on the Venice red carpet. She wore a Franklin Eugene couture ball gown to the Joker movie premiere, capturing the attention of media, paparazzi, and fans alike as seen on AccessVideoTV and Zimbio.

“I wanted to design something unique yet with bursts of color that would complement Lynn’s beautiful skin tone,” said designer Franklin Eugene. The gown looked amazing on Taylor Re Lynn, accentuating her beauty and ensuring that she turned heads at the event.  When asked her thoughts on the one of a kind ensemble, she agreed “The gown has a beautiful silhouette, and it’s the perfect gown to celebrate such a special occasion,” said Lynn.

The gown was amazingly designed to reflect the theme of the movie, with the color block influenced cinematic style of the Joker film reflected in the upper gown with vibrant color to ensure the beauty stood out from the crowd and the usual safely reserved red carpet frocks.
As usual, the gown represents the excellence and creativity that Franklin Eugene is known for featuring a billowing black lower half with muted train, as such Lynn appeared to be floating across the Sala Grande red carpet in a gown that channels timeless elegance and brilliant color palette.
