Portland, Oregon (PRUnderground) April 9th, 2020

It has been determined that the key to leveling the curve of COVID-19 and ultimately returning to normal is social and physical distancing. Culturally appropriate communication is vital during this challenging time. Many organizations are experiencing challenges in providing outreach to their limited-English proficient communities. 25.1 million people in the United States (over the age of 5) are considered Limited English Proficient (LEP), meaning they have reported speaking English less than “very well”.

As a leading provider of language services nationwide, Telelanguage understands the current challenges facing both the LEP community, and organizations that serve them. Telelanguage has organized an educational webinar event to provide organizations, businesses, and leaders with tools and resources for utilizing language services for community outreach amidst the situation with COVID-19.

The webinar, Tools for Community Outreach: Language Services Amid COVID-19, will take place on Thursday, April 16th, 2020 at 10 AM PST

Key topics that will be covered include:

  • Communication challenges facing the LEP community.
  • Language services tools for community outreach.
  • Supplementing your current language program.

This webinar intends to provide resources and tools to help organizations nationwide in filling critical gaps in outreach to non-English speaking communities, including immigrant families and businesses throughout the country.

We understand that these are especially challenging times, and serving a limited-English speaking population can add another level of concern in providing exceptional care and support,” states Manuela Villa, Account Executive at Telelanguage. “Foreign language services may be new to an organization, or an agency may just be trying to more efficiently use these services during this pandemic. Our hope is that this webinar will provide support for that,” she concludes.

Representatives may register for the webinar through April 15th.Limited space is available. Due to the high demand of requests for the presentation, participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure their spot.

Foreign language interpretation and translation is absolutely an essential service during this time – especially as it pertains to healthcare, utilities, social services and more,” says Andre Mon Belle, Co-President of Telelanguage. “We’re hoping this webinar will help organizations understand how easily these services can be implemented, and how vital these services are to their communities,” adds Mon Belle.
