The Bar Ber Shop Announces Donation Drive For Sixth Annual Grooming Our Educators Event

Industry: Education

Raleigh, NC (PRUnderground) October 5th, 2020

The Bar Ber Shop is announcing a donation drive for its sixth annual Grooming Our Educators event, to provide complementary haircuts, steam towel treatments, shampoos, and more from its menu of signature services to educators across the Triangle area.

Owner Reginald Winston says even though the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has impacted so many areas of life, “We still want to let the teachers in this community know they are a priority.”

The Bar Ber Shop is soliciting donations. To groom educators at no cost, they’d like the community’s financial support. “Since COVID we have lost nearly 75% of our business, so we are just not able to fund these haircuts alone..” Supporters can donate online at www.thebarbershopnc.com. Donations can be in any amount, and supporters can also sponsor an individual educator or purchase a gift certificate.

Over the years The Bar Ber Shop has groomed countless educators and provided hundreds of classrooms with supplies.

Winston says they’re executing this year’s event with special precautions in the midst of COVID. “Because the schools are providing online education, we were not able to collect and properly distribute school supplies,” Winston says, “So we’re going to increase our level of commitment and aim to provide haircuts to 100 educators.”

Winston adds that The Bar Ber Shop has also modified its sanitation practices, requiring customers to check in for service through the back of the shop, and administering a forehead temperature scan. All the barbers wear gloves and masks. Additionally, no walk-in appointments are currently being accepted. “We’re keeping things as safe as possible,” Winston says.

Grooming Our Educators is personal for Winston. “I come from a family of educators,” he says. “My brother is a principal. My grandfather was on the school board. So I know the struggles teachers experience financially every year.” He says the event is his way of giving back to the educators who serve the young people and the community. “In our barber shop we like to say today we are grooming the character of tomorrows leaders.”

Winston adds, “No job would be available to us if it weren’t for an educator teaching us the skills we need to acquire the position. So this is our way of saying thank you.”
