The Transeuntis Mundi Project Immersive Virtual Reality Experience Launches 2021 Online Exhibition

Industry: Art & Design

New York, NY (PRUnderground) May 10th, 2021

The Transeuntis Mundi Project, an immersive virtual reality experience about celebrating migration and transculturalism over the course of human history, is launching its 2021 exhibition, and is currently available online now through May 21 on the platform Artsy, one of the most prestigious media for Art collectors.

Artist Candida Borges characterizes the exhibition as one in which the past inspires the future of art. She says, “The Transeuntis Mundi allows the audience to experience the sound and visual memory of peoples and cultures that have crossed the world, and the exhibition evokes the power of ancestry, identity, and legacy.”

“This work reveals the human journey, and provides an opportunity for people to gain understanding, demonstrate empathy, and celebrate diversity,” she says.

A pair of Latin American artists and scholars conceptualized The Transeuntis Mundi, Brazilian artist Cândida Borges and the Colombian artist Gabriel Mario Vélez, both of whom have conducted academic research about the field of composition in emerging technologies.

This current version of the exhibition is entitled, “Web Derive 01,” a series of 9 photographs and a luxury photography book signed by the artists. It explores the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Colombia. There have been installations throughout New York, Rochester, Miami, Rio de Janeiro, and Medellín. Borges says, “The expression ‘Transeuntis Mundi,’ in the original Latin, personifies the person who has undertaken adventures of discovery and exploration in the larger world.”

She adds that virtual reality is the premiere medium in which to experience immersive art today. “People are virtually migrating inside the VR headset,” she says, “and they can travel through the landscapes in 360-degree audio and video.”

Following the Artsy installation, The Transeuntis Mundi will appear at festivals in Colombia and China. Future plans call for resuming in-person exhibitions.
