Town of Windsor & Vepo Metering Announce Notice To Residents/Property Owners Advanced Water Metering Infrastructure System Project

Smart water meters are being installed at residences and businesses across the Town of New Windsor in October 2019.

The Town of New Windsor will begin installing an Advanced Water Metering Infrastructure System at residences and businesses across the Town beginning in October with an anticipated completion date of nine months. The smart meter technology will enable the wireless transmission of individual customers’ water meter readings directly to the Town’s Water Department. The smart water meters will enable customers to track their water use from their smartphone or computer and help the Water Department detect leaks sooner, which will lead to better water conservation. There will be no rate increases or surcharges as a result of this project.
The Town has contracted with VEPO Metering based in Elmsford, NY to install new water meters. The installation should take about two hours at each location. Installers will be supervised by Town staff, carry proper identification and wear VEPO tee shirts, jackets or vests. Contractor vehicles will also be clearly marked with the VEPO logo.
