The Tribute Platform was introduced today at La Place, the Paris Fintech meeting point. Tribute was founded to help organizations attract contributors and grow communities, via a new form of incentive: contributive equity. Businesses can use contributive equity to create a mutually beneficial relationship with their freelancers, users, partners, and employees.

“No more than 50% of FT500 workforce will be employees by 2020. And 40% of workers would change job to have access to profit-sharing. The quest for autonomy and fairness is massive”, says Philippe Honigman, Tribute co-founder. “With contributive equity, businesses of all size can grow in a sustainable way, by sharing more value than they capture for themselves”.

Modern organizations increasingly rely on external skills and resources in order to operate: freelance workers, online communities, service providers and users in sharing economy networks, mentors and consultants. The shift towards on-demand work and the enrollment of networked individuals is massive and global. But misalignment between company insiders and outsiders creates disengagement and conflicts, and hinders the growth of network-based organizations. To address this challenge, Tribute enables businesses to track and acknowledge contributions, and to reward them in proportion of the actual value created over the time.

Tribute targets multiple industry sectors and use cases, such as open innovation and intrapreneurship programs at large companies. Sharing economy companies can use our instruments to grow their networks. Incubators, accelerators, and consortiums can incentivize their participants, smaller organizations such as startups and open-source projects can foster the growth of their communities.

As a social impact initiative, Tribute is building into its platform a durable, transparent, community-driven protocol for funding the digital commons, such as the free software, open protocols, open data and open knowledge upon which our economy is increasingly based.
