Umojo Partners With Mako Networks to Enhance the Security and Reliability of Their Industry-Leading Parking Automation Solutions

Industry: Technology

Umojo’s Park On Call solution uses Mako managed network appliances to ensure PCI DSS compliance over easily scalable and robust wide area networks.

Elgin, IL (PRUnderground) May 7th, 2020

Umojo and Mako Networks have partnered to integrate Mako networking technology with Umojo’s groundbreaking Park On Call system, which delivers industry-leading parking automation by connecting thousands of parking garages to secure, redundant data centers and third-party application providers. Park On Call now utilizes the Mako System for network management and PCI DSS compliance. The Umojo solution, paired with Mako technology, allows operators to standardize security practices across large estates, such as Icon Parking, Citizens Parking, TownPark, and Lanier.

Umojo integrated the Mako System with Park On Call to maximize the platform’s already robust security and to improve uptime and speed with a seamless High Availability (HA) configuration and Gigabit transfer speeds. Distributed enterprises with high site counts and multiple attack vectors benefit from Mako’s PCI certification, which can be extended to their sites. Offering a multitude of SD-WAN connectivity options, including dual-SIM LTE cellular and multi-path routing using Mako’s proven VPN Cloud technology, allows extremely fast failover configurations that not only ensure uptime but react so quickly there is zero packet loss in a failover event. This is critical to systems that demand continuity, including payment processing, VoIP, and streaming security cameras.

“Now that we offer unlimited cellular data plans around 25MBps, we can provide flexible bandwidth for the same price as xDSL,” said Rick Neubauer, Founder and CEO of Umojo. “Beyond meeting our security and performance needs, the ease of applying a consistent security template to groups of Mako appliances with zero-touch deployment was a deciding factor for us. Mako appliances deliver industry-leading network security and HA performance alongside a powerful suite of management tools that really allow you to get the most out of the hardware.”

Simon Gamble, President of Mako Networks, said, “We are excited to extend our partnership with Umojo by integrating our technology into this great package. Mako Networks and Umojo both deliver full-service security solutions at scale through the use of the latest, most efficient, high-performance technology available. This partnership takes that model a step forward for both companies.”

Umojo selected the Mako 6600-M appliance as their standard. With a sealed, tamper-evident case, no moving parts, and high heat tolerance, it is well suited to tough environments such as parking garages. As with all Mako appliances, the 6600-M has 24/7 access to the Mako Central Management System for cloud-based configuration, reporting, and diagnostics. Other features include four physical network segments, VLAN support, up to four Wi-Fi networks, a stateful inspection firewall, and content filtering.Umojo also selected Mako 7600 and 8600 VPN concentrators for data center connectivity, creating a highly secure and reliable network architecture across multiple carrier networks and technologies. Mako concentrators deliver additional features and add increased processing power, allowing them to terminate thousands of VPN tunnels with minimal setup. Multiple Mako concentrators at multiple data centers provide load distribution as well as circuit, hardware, and geographic redundancy.

Umojo also utilizes Mako’s fully managed switches and plans to incorporate Mako’s wireless access points later this year.
