Understanding the USP’s Proposed Revisions to 797: Upcoming PharmaSalon Event Will Spotlight Everything You Need to Know

Industry: Business

Timely series of virtual panels and presentations, unfurling October 5-8, will clarify changes impacting procedures, training, documentation, software and more

Los Angeles, CA (PRUnderground) September 14th, 2021

The proposed revisions by USP to its Section 797 guidelines will be front and center October 5-9, when PharmaSalon conducts its Compounding Pharmacies Grand Salon. (Pre-recorded, on-demand sessions will be released September 20.)

According to Lou Diorio, Principal for LDT Health Solutions, the USP changes will result in myriad significant downstream impacts to compounding pharmacies.

“You won’t have to entirely rewrite your policies and procedures, but you’ll sure have to amend them,” Diorio says. “And since you’re changing them, you have to go back and train your staff. And then you have to edit all the forms and the company software to record the frequencies.”

At PharmaSalon’s Grand Salon, Diorio will moderate the timely fireside chat, “Surviving USP and FDA Challenges: Adapting to Overcome Changes.” Panelists will include Danny Barnes, PharmD BCSCP Rph, President & Chief Pharmacy Officer, Triangle Compounding Pharmacy Inc.& Panacea BioMatx; and Greg McKettrick, Director of Marketing and Business Development, Stanley Pharmacy.

Danny Barnes PharmD BCSCP RPh, President & Chief Pharmacy Officer Triangle Compounding Pharmacy Inc agrees stating “While the changes will help to implement more quality by design into the products, organizations will be faced with budgetary challenges that hopefully will not impact patient access in the long run.”

But that’s just one of several highly relevant Grand Salon events focused on USP.

Also slated is the 503A panel, “Designing an Environmental Monitoring Plan That Exceeds 797,” which will be moderated by Abby Roth, Senior Director of Business Operations, CriticalPoint, LLC.

Panelists include:

  • Kim Kieffer, 503B, Director of Quality, Anazao Health
  • Tenille Davis, PharmD RPh BCSCP, Pharmacist-in-charge, PCCA Hormone Specialist, Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist, APC Board of Directors, District VII, Civic Center Pharmacy
  • Lauren Keefer, Quality Control Manager, Empower Pharmacy
  • Matt Martin, PharmD, Manager of Clinical Services, PCCA

Diorio will also deliver the timely presentation, Analysis of the Changes in the Guidance from USP.” This will be a compare and contrast session on what are the new standards, how are they different from the current standards and action or plans pharmacies can do to meet the standards.

PharmaSalon’s Compounding Pharmacies Grand Salon will be packed full of the kind of relevant information that compounding pharmacies need today.
