With over two decades of professional experience in the Hazardous Materials and Transportation industry, Wendy has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field.  Over the course of her entire career, she has created relationships of trust and integrity. Wendy is committed to protecting workers, the public, the environment, and capital assets by improving safety, increasing regulatory compliance, and managing risk.

Currently, Wendy is the President & CEO of STARS (Specialty Transportation And Regulatory Services)  STARS is a hazardous materials and transportation consulting firm that services a diverse clientele from all modes of transportation: rail, highway, air, vessel, and barge, both domestically and internationally.

Her key responsibilities include project management and design, budget management, marketing, business development, assigning projects and delegating responsibility for the execution of contracts to her staff. Wendy is a qualified and seasoned trainer and auditor for all modes of transportation. Having a strong background of hands-on experience, Wendy is certified as a Responsible Care Lead Auditor. She also directs the publication of the periodic newsletter, “Hazmat Chronicle”.

As a dynamic results-driven leader, Wendy has demonstrated success in every position she has ever held. Her impressive repertoire of prior roles include Hazardous Material Technician for the Fire Department, and Railroad Hazardous Materials Inspector for both the Federal Railroad Administration and New Jersey State Department of Transportation. Moreover, Wendy worked as an Investigator with the Office of the Inspector General at Amtrak, and also as a Multi-Modal HazMat Instructor and Auditor with a premier consulting and training company. Beyond these experiences, Wendy served as the sole Regulatory Affairs Specialist at a multi-billion dollar laboratory supply company.

Before embarking on her professional career path, Wendy completed 3 years of course work for International Business. Next she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from Strayer University in 2006. Wendy continued her studies and obtained a Masters Certificate in Project Management from Villanova University in 2010. Following these academic merits, she concluded her education with a Master of Science in Environmental, Safety & Health Management from the University of Findlay in 2014. Wendy also received an additional Masters Certificate for Environmental Management (including Air, Water and Waste Management).

Wendy is also an adjunct professor at the University of Findlay for the graduate and undergraduate Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Program, teaching Hazardous Materials Transportation. Her first class is scheduled to begin in January 2021.

Throughout her illustrious career, Wendy has received awards, accolades and been featured in numerous publications for her profound knowledge and leadership within the industry. This year she will be considered for a featured article in TIP (Top Industry Professional) Magazine and she was chosen as Top CEO & Consultant of the Year for 2020 by the International Association of Top Professionals. For 2021 she is being considered for the Empowered Woman Award. In past years, Wendy has been recognized by Continental Who’s Who, she was named “Woman of the Year” by the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) and she was also named “Pinnacle Professional of the Year” by the National Association of Distinguished Professionals (NADP).

Recently, Wendy was featured in some notable publications, such as ICE Magazine, featured in Women of Distinction Magazine and named a Delegate with IWLA for her Outstanding Leadership.  Wendy has multiple degrees from several private and public Universities and published Whitepaper, “The 4 Unique Challenges Facing HazMat Warehouses & What To Do About Them” (August of 2020), Professional Perspective Articles, “Boxes and Bottles and Jars, Oh My!”, which appeared in Packaging World Magazine (November of 2013) and “Rail Safety and Regulatory Perspective”, Focal Pointes Magazine (May 2014).

Aside from her successful career, Wendy is also a sought-after speaker who has reached audiences on international satellite radio and at nationally based seminars and conferences to provide awareness and share her proficiency in the profession. She had a regular guest spot on Sirius XM’s Road Dog Trucking Radio for more than a year talking about transportation and hazardous materials issues by road and rail, and her speeches were well received by organizations such as The Sulphur Institute (TSI), National Industrial Transportation League (NITL), Bureau of Explosives (BOE/AAR), Dangerous Goods Advisory Council (DGAC) and Dangerous Goods Symposium (DGS – formerly DGIS), and more.

Looking back, Wendy attributes her success to her diverse experiences, astounding work ethic, her perseverance, and remaining passionate in all of her endeavors. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys spending time with her 4 young children and traveling. For the future, Wendy will continue lending her expertise to educate and implement safe, responsible handling of Hazardous Materials and Transportation.
