“Twelve O’clock High” meets “An American Guerilla in the Philippines”. That eye-opening description is being used to describe the high-adventure, painstakingly historically accurate WW2 epic, “When We Were Young”, book three of the popular Bomber Trilogy, by author Wesley R. Harden III. In exciting news, the new book has been recently released by independent publisher Bowker and Harden to high anticipation from fans of the series.

“When I was eight or ten years old my dad knew of my fascination with airplanes and flying,” commented Harden. “Unfortunately, I wore glasses which precluded me from ever being an Air Force pilot. Every once in a while, my dad would build a model airplane for me after he got off night shift and would surprise me with it when I woke up. One day he surprised me with a B-17 painted silver complete with Group markings. It hung from the ceiling over my head and was often the last thing I would see when I fell asleep. One day we watched the movie “Command Decision” with Clark Gable. From that moment on I became fascinated with the 8th Army Air Force and its exploits in the deadly wartime skies over Europe. This gave rise to my Bombing Trilogy. It took me over thirty years of research and finally a ride in a ’17 to complete the project.”

But the Bomber Trilogy is certainly not a “business as usual” forgettable series in its genre. This is a testament to Harden’s zeal and knowledge of the subject and his skill as an author.

Harden continued, “But also, I concern myself with their voices. My dad rarely spoke of his experience as a GI during the race across France and the Battle of the Bulge with Patton’s Army. He seemed to define what today we call PTSD. So, I wanted to tell the story of one of Hollis’s crewmen as he bails out over France and combine the elements of historical fiction and action/adventure.’

“When We Were Young” is available in both Kindle, Nook, Apple as well as other eBook outlets and paperback editions on Amazon.com.
