Robert Soler to present on circadian lighting and its effects on the healthcare environment

Melbourne, FL (PRUnderground) July 6th, 2017

BIOS Lighting, a recognized expert in the research, design and manufacturing of human centric and agricultural LED lighting solutions, today announced BIOS VP of Human Biological Research and Technologies Robert Soler will speak at Lighting for Health and Wellness Conference 2017 in Newport Beach, CA on July 27 at 4 p.m.

Soler’s presentation, entitled Spectral Design of the Healthcare Environment, will cover circadian rhythms, alertness and sleep for staff and patients, light exposure and the patient experience, and skin-based responses of light. In addition, the presentation will address criteria for visual requirements along with the effects of light exposure and how to deliver a thoughtful design that benefits both patients and staff in healthcare environments.

“My presentation will focus on what the important considerations are to everyone occupying the hospital, from short stay patients to hospital staff and personnel,” Soler said. “This includes visual assessment as well as the biological pathways.”

Prior to BIOS, Soler worked at NASA where he assisted in designing and building the first LED light for use on the International Space Station (ISS) and collaborated with scientists to use LED light for photo biological purposes in space. His years of experience as an electrical and lighting engineer have led him to become an inventor of 79 issued patents in the U.S. Soler has also authored several published papers on light and its use for air and water disinfection and for human health benefits, with an emphasis on its use in spaceflight applications.

Lighting for Health and Wellbeing Conference USA will be held July 27 at the Newport Beach Marriot Hotel & Spa in Newport Beach, CA.
