The way it works is by allowing the groups in question to benefit from all the latest renewable technologies without having to pay the same initial rates of capital investment as other private companies or homes. Instead, you will have the option of paying back this cost over a period of as long as 12 years, through the money already being saved in reduced energy bills and Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) contributions.

To put Energy for Education into perspective, it is estimated that a typical system which is linked to the scheme could lead to savings of more than £132,000 even after all of the investment costs have been paid off.
