Charity Uses Donated Real Estate and Vehicle Contributions to Create New Opportunities for People Facing Hardship

Saginaw, MI (PRUnderground) May 11th, 2026

Driving Successful Lives, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, recently donated a buildable lot in Saginaw, Michigan, to Walter, an unemployed auto accident victim whose lifelong dream has been to become a real estate investor.

The charity said the decision was made after learning about Walter’s difficult circumstances and hearing his passion for learning the real estate business despite the challenges he has faced.

“Why not let him learn the business with real property?” said Mark Maupin, Director of Driving Successful Lives. “Sometimes people don’t need a handout as much as they need an opportunity. This property gives Walter a chance to learn, grow, and potentially build something that could change the direction of his life.”

Walter expressed deep gratitude for the land donation and said receiving the lot gave him hope during one of the most difficult periods of his life following his accident and unemployment.

Driving Successful Lives accepts donated homes, land, commercial property, vacant lots, junk vehicles, unwanted cars, and distressed real estate throughout the United States. Many donated assets are sold to help fund charitable outreach, while others are directly used to help individuals and families facing hardship.

“We meet people every day who are struggling,” Maupin said. “Many are dealing with medical problems, job loss, homelessness, addiction recovery, or simply life circumstances that overwhelmed them. We cannot help everyone, but we do our best to turn unwanted properties and vehicles into opportunities for people who truly need a second chance.”

The organization says many donors are surprised to learn that unwanted real estate and older vehicles can still create meaningful change.

“Some people have inherited property they cannot afford to maintain. Others have vacant land sitting for years or vehicles they no longer use,” Maupin added. “Instead of letting those assets become a burden, donors can turn them into something positive that helps real people. Donations truly make a difference.”

Driving Successful Lives encourages individuals, families, estate executors, attorneys, investors, and property owners to consider donating:

  • Vacant Land
  • Distressed Homes
  • Commercial Buildings
  • Rental Properties
  • Inherited Property
  • Junk Cars
  • Unwanted Vehicles
  • Non-Running Cars
  • Real Estate in Need of Repair

The organization works with donors nationwide and helps guide donors through the donation process.

About Driving Successful Lives

Driving Successful Lives’ mission is to help raise funds and improve the lives of veterans, homeless families, children, those with addictions while helping donors generate a tax deduction, often with property or vehicles they might no longer want.

Every time a person gives to the charity of their choice it may also create a tax benefit for them. Car donations, real estate donations or money donated to non-profit institutions throughout the tax year may be tax deductible which means that they could make a positive difference for people while reducing the amount of income taxes they pay. Contributing to charities can be a very convenient way to reduce taxes and help others.
