Global Talents Digital Participant Won Redress Design Award 2020

Industry: Fashion & Accessories

Sustainable design is the key to transform the fashion industry. This year the main theme of Global Talents Digital, that took place from September, 4 to 6, held by Fashion Fund and Russian Fashion Council, was exactly the same. Particulary at the same time, on September, 3, Redress Design Award took place in Hong Kong, China. Great minds think alike, so this year's winner, brand GARCIABELLO has also been a participant of Global Talents Digital. Jokes aside: it is a vivid example of the unity importance in the industry these days. The new era in fashion has started its development these year and the best way of keeping up with the new times is staying united to shape a better future.

The fashion show of the GARCIABELLO brand (Netherlands) took place at Global Talents Digital on the 6th of September. The AW20/21 collection was an agender color-blocked puzzle that clients can gather the way they want. Also, brand’s designer, Juliana Garcia Bello taught the audience how to repair garments using fabric. She is a real artist of this direction because GARCIABELLO produces clothes from donated hand-me-downs, old fabrics, and raw biodegradable cotton which helps the brand to disseminate the concept of ethical fashion. These ideas brought the brand into the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition.

Redress Design Award 2020 is a great platform for designers who want to change the game. Moreover, the reward is a collaboration with well-known fashion brands and several additional resources for productive work and studying. “I have learned so much during my participation in the Redress Design Award and have definitely come out of this with a reinforced feeling that collaboration is the key. We, designers, need to share our strengths and be inspired by each other to keep finding solutions to the mounting levels of textile waste,” – designer Juliana Garcia Bello considers.

“It’s a clothes collection that reflects on connections, limits and borders. Using augmented reality as a means of connection to a sensory proposal that works on public roads. Creating alternative ways to show the collections and call up people to reflect about the industry of fashion,” – the designer tells about Global Talents Digital participation.

The more we speak about sustainability around the world, the better impact towards a circular fashion system we have. By joining forces and promoting the ideas of sustainable fashion, we are reaching the primary goal – to increase awareness and to minimize wastage.
