IVYE WEAR, attire that inspires, is announcing the launch of a website designed to serve and support those of us who daily battle chronic illness. The site will be a hub for information, connection, inspiration, and merchandise that not only celebrates the strength of chronic illness warriors, spoonies and zebras but practically assists them in their daily visits to hospitals and clinics for treatment and examinations. IVYE aims to restore hope, comfort, and dignity to those who face chronic illness.

IVYE WEAR is stylish, comfortable clothing that practically addresses the needs of chronic warriors. This is intuitive clothing that allows for easy examination of patients with zippers that give doctors access to veins, arteries and body parts while keeping the chronic warrior comfortable and maintaining their dignity.

WRAP YOURSELF IN HOPE

Hope is a held hand, a call of support from a dear friend, eyes that see beyond illness into the reality of who you are. Hope is anything and everything that helps you get out of bed, use your spoons, face the battle and stay proud, connected and true to the self that is never defined by illness. IVYE Wear is the attire of hope for chronic illness warriors. Beyond comfortable, intuitive clothing, IVYE is a forum for connection, understanding, inspiration, and hope for those who live, every day, with chronic illness. The IVYE WEAR site is a place to find like-minded warriors fighting the daily battles that most cannot even imagine.

IVYE WEAR KNOWS

We understand that chronic illness is enough to deal with, the pain, the disruption of your life, the confusion and all the unanswered questions. Add to that doctors who sometimes don’t deal with you as a human, just an illness. It seems difficult to keep going, to keep fighting, to keep being a warrior. When we say we understand this, we’re not saying it from a purely outside sympathetic view, we say this from the perspective of people who have been there, are still there and know, first hand, what that world is like. We believe the simplest things can make a huge difference and so we have engaged in the quest to make clothing for chronic illness sufferers that helps to make their lives a little bit better. Being warm, giving doctors easy access to veins and body parts while remaining comfortable and retaining dignity. We understand we appreciate the deep importance of these things. We also realize that no one seems to be thinking of these problems and so, we decided to put time, effort and thought into chronic patient comfort, care, and dignity. Dignity is often overlooked but when you take a person’s dignity, you often take their will to fight and their drive to continue on in this world. We won’t allow that. We will safeguard the dignity of the chronically ill and keep them focused, hopeful and strong. We are warriors looking out for warriors. We are patients fighting and surviving, looking to make life and the fight easier for others through our own, personal experiences.

WHO IS IVYE WEAR

Dax Francis is our founder. At the age of 12, he was diagnosed with kidney disease and he quickly realized that his life was going to change. This was his first glimpse of the real world. At the time, he was planning to become a professional athlete. There was no doubt, no question about his future and then, reality stepped in and brought his life to a screeching halt. Instead of practices and workouts, he was now faced with a life of doctor visits and often humiliating treatments. He didn’t want to think about eating the correct foods and drinks to stay healthy, to stay on top of the situation. He wanted to go on vacation, stay up late, experience all the things you get to do as a kid, just like his friends were doing, just like everyone seemed to be doing, just like … a normal kid. But, that kind of normal life was not in the cards for him, no matter how much he wanted to be like everyone else, he realized that day would probably never come.

He had a choice, he could spend the rest of his life wishing and trying to be someone else, complaining about the raw deal he had been handed and basically stop living or, he could become okay with who he was and find a way to keep living. Find a way to make the life he was now going to lead his new normal. He decided to redefine normal for himself. So, he became okay with being what he was, which is sick. He didn’t allow it to pull him down rather, he took his struggle and he worked to turn it into a triumph. Instead of seeing every treatment, every setback, every visit to the doctor as an obstacle, he looked at each new situation as a chance to grow, a chance to succeed. He took every chance he could to use this negative experience and draw strength from it.

That’s the start and now, it is the mission. Dax has a goal of helping all those who suffer from chronic illness to draw strength and hope for the negative experiences chronic illness warriors face. Strength, hope, comfort, and dignity. Most of us don’t think of those things but at IVYE WEAR it’s our focus and our mission.
