Midwest Book Review Serves Up Positive Feedback for Jerry Gill’s Vic Challenger Series

Industry: Books

9 novels focus on heroine’s action and sci-fi adventures with an emphasis on historically correct times and places

Kaneohe, HAWAII (PRUnderground) July 10th, 2020

Hawaii adventure writer Jerry Gill recently received an e-mail from Midwest Book Review informing him that their online book review magazine, ‘Reviewers Bookwatch’, had featured a review of his entire ‘The Incredible Adventures of Vic Challenger’ series in their June 2020 edition.

According to Gill, “Reading the opening was pleasantly stunning.”

Gill wrote the Vic Challenger series for his four hanai nieces, and put a strong, young heroine at the center of adventures in exotic places including Africa, the Amazon River, the Grand Canyon, and Loch Ness. Set in the 1920s, Gill has created an adventure novel series that is also extremely accurate in terms of foods, customs, and more for the time and each place his main character, Victoria, travels to. This makes the Vic Challenger series more than just a good read – it’s also an educational opportunity to learn more about a time past, as well as about foreign places around the world.

In each novel, Vic faces bad guys and cryptids, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. When he finished writing the first novel, Gill decided to keep going, and now, the series totals nine books, with more on the way. The tenth book is expected to be launched within the next two months.

Midwest Book Review reviewer Willis M. Buhle said, “Harkening back to the Golden Age of pulp fiction, ‘The Incredible Adventures of Vic Challenger’ uniquely features a young female heroine in a new series of nine (and counting!) novels by Jerry Gill that combine elements of action/adventure with elements of classic science fiction in the kind of narrative storytelling style that associated with such legendary authors as Edgar Rice Burroughs, H. Rider Haggard, and Robert E. Howard. Thoroughly entertaining, each of the nine deftly crafted and original volumes that currently make up this simply outstanding series is unreservedly recommended for personal reading lists, and is certain to be an immediate and enduringly popular addition to high school and community library collections.”

Gill hopes to inspire aspiring writers. “Don’t, unless you love to write. It’s work if you don’t love it and it can be discouraging. But if you keep at it, you won’t regret it. Motivation comes, too, like this review. This is my personal proof that improbable does not equate impossible.”

The entire Vic Challenger series is available at Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, Amazon, Google Play, and the Walmart website. More information can be found at https://www.vicplanet.com.
